My Pages are your personalized view of the portal. Each My Page displays portlets that you choose. Portlets, which are tools embedded in your portal, increase the flexibility of your portal by allowing you to integrate applications, tools, and services into your portal. For example, you could have a portlet that provides a search tool for all the employees in a company or a portlet that allows you to order lunch online.
To learn about the functions available at the top of the portal, see My Home, My Account, Logging Off, Help, and Searching.
To customize your default My Page or access other pages within My Pages, click My Pages to display the menu. The My Pages default menu contains the following options:
Create New Page lets you create a new My Page, add portlets to the page, and customize the My Page layout.
Edit Page lets you modify the My Page you are viewing, add and delete portlets, and change the My Page name. To learn more about customizing an existing My Page, see Edit Page (My Page).
Add Portlets lets you add portlets to the My Page you are viewing.
Edit Portlet
Preferences lets you configure
some of your portlets.
Note: If your portlet has a title bar, you can also click in the title bar to access the Edit Portlet Preferences page.
Delete This Page deletes the My Page you are viewing.
Home Page (or main page with a customized name) brings you to your main My Page. This is the page displayed when you log in to the portal.
Note: These options are available when you view the menu from a My Page. If you view the menu from any other page in the portal, you will only see the Create New Page option and a list of your My Pages.
The following portlets are automatically installed with the portal software:
Portal Login lets you log in to your personalized portal account. This is typically added by the portal administrator to the Guest's default My Page.
Portal Search lets you search the portal and display saved search parameters and criteria. If you run the same search frequently, you can save the search for later use. To learn more about saving search results, see Search Results.
To minimize a portlet so that only the title bar
appears on your My Page, click on the title bar.
To maximize a portlet so that the entire portlet
displays, click on the title bar.
To refresh a portlet, click on
the title bar. Not all portlets have a refresh button.
In the banner above the menu bar, click My Account. You can edit your user profile, display options, locale settings, search settings, view your user profile, and, depending on your type of user account, change your password.
