The Edit Portlet Preferences page lets you configure some of the portlets and set what information to display. Not all portlets include preferences because not all portlets support personalization.
The Edit Portlet Preferences page displays only portlets displayed on the My Page or community page from which you launched the Edit Portlet Preferences page. To change the preferences of portlets on another page or community, go to that page or community; then, in the My Pages or My Communities menu, click Edit Portlet Preferences.
There are three types of portlet preferences, corresponding to columns on this page:

Personal |
Set by an individual user, and apply to a portlet on a specific My Page or community for that user |
Community |
Set by a community administrator, only appear when in a community, and apply to a portlet in a specific community for all users |
Administrative |
Set by an administrator, and apply to a portlet anywhere it appears in the portal for all users |
The Administrative and Community preference columns appear only if there is at least one portlet on the page that has these preferences editable, and you have access to edit them.
To edit preferences for a portlet, click and edit the applicable personal, community, or administrative
preferences. If preferences are not editable, this icon appears dimmed:

Important: Your preferences are saved each time you finish setting each portlet.
If you are a community administrator, you can also edit community portlet preferences from the Community Editor.
You can also edit the preferences to which you
have access on an individual portlet by clicking on the
portlet's title bar. When you click this icon, if there is more than one
type of portlet preference, you see a drop-down menu to pick from.
To display the page associated
with this help topic:
In the My Pages menu or My Communities menu, click Edit
Portlet Preferences.
Note: You can also click in the title bar of any
portlet to access the preferences for that portlet.
